The Book of Malachi, the final book of the Hebrew Bible, was probably written in the late 5th century BC. The Hebrew word Malachi means “my messenger,” and the book contains a prophetic message from God to the people of Israel, rebuking them for their unfaithfulness and calling them to repentance. Malachi also promises the coming of a messenger who will prepare the way for the Lord and bring judgment on the wicked.
